Burt’s Bees Holiday Gift Packs & Campaign
TASK

The Holiday Gift packs are a seasonal favorite with gift-givers and receivers alike. A Burt’s Bees holiday gift pack is often a consumer’s first experience with the brand, converting them into loyal users.

It’s a yearly assignment to develop holiday patterns for the packaging that support the products’ natural ingredients. These products are strongly branded and are giftable without additional wrapping paper.

SOLUTION

For the packaging, I designed a knit snowflake pattern that was on trend and spoke to a cozy, festive holiday season. The variety packs have unique combinations of flavors and custom giftable boxes. These packs got unique coloring to differentiate them.

Next, I worked with the Art Director to develop a concept for the marketing materials tied to the chosen knit pattern featured on the gift packs. This tool kit included web ads and promotional posters providing elements for vendors to implement.

I created a strong brand presence using the knit pattern as a background in the B.B. yellow combined with the B.B. red type and packaging images. A custom typeface was used to tie in the look and feel of the other campaigns that year.

Our team worked with a stylist to photograph assets of the “pinecone bee” and “yarn trail.” These elements imply that the bee was knitting the pattern. The yarn was added throughout the pieces in a fun and playful way tieing back to the concept. I added natural leaves and branches to evoke the holidays.

The hanging danglers were added as an option for stores to enhance the holiday spirit further.
